THE TRAINING SERIES

Launched as experimental aircraft to experience new technological solutions, today the DISCOVERY TRNs are used to train pilots, and employed in experimental missions. As predecessor of the most advanced models, the trainers of the DISCOVERY series boast thousand hours of flight time in various types of environmental conditions and can be employed in critical operations for strategic purposes.

DISCOVERY TRN in detail

The family of DISCOVERY TRN trainers is already part of the history of RPS AEROSPACE. The TRN model will be taken off the market at the end of 2018 and will pass the torch to the much-improved performing DISCOVERY EXP.
Remarkable for its excellence in the most challenging experimental missions, it is indeed recognised worldwide as the pioneer of the lightweight unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
Thanks to its innovative design it has attained the Honourable Mention just in the last year of production, in the frame of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award.
Used in security and surveillance missions and appreciated for its extreme effectiveness and versatility, over the years it has become a prominent aircraft in search and rescue missions.
Employed in the RESCUE-II program for several years, DISCOVERY TRN was selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) for CBRNe counter-terrorism operations in 2017.

 

 

Over the years, the development and integration plan of the DISCOVERY-TRN platforms has pushed the main players of various sectors to create advanced management and maintenance systems of plant, safety and control in sensitive sites.
Platforms that remotely operates with self-flying modes are used on experimental basis for the security of areas at risk from criminal and terrorist attacks. Installations with DISCOVERY-TRN aircraft are being tested to pave the way for the enhanced performing and reliable DISCOVERY-EXP series.

MODULAR SENSOR SUITE

Thanks to the RPSconnect interfaces, all sensors are interchangeable in a single motion.
Once installed on board, they are readily operational and are managed through the dedicated ground control station (GCS).

UPSIDE-DOWN PROPELLERS

The positioning of the propellers in an upside-down configuration allows to maximise the efficiency of the propulsive group, eliminating aerodynamic interference phenomena caused by air flows with the UAV structure.

GUARD MODE

Through the infrared (IR) video camera it is possible to make a reconnaissance flight without any payload significantly increasing the UAVs’ autonomy. The camera images are always visible both from the cockpit ground control station, and the ground control station for equipment management.
