THE SMALLEST UAV OF THE FLEET

DISCOVERY EXP is the simplest and the most compact UAV of the RPS AEROSPACE fleet. It is ideal for medium-haul missions that require maximum flexibility and precision. It has the same advanced constructive solutions and distinctive elements as the bigger RPS AEROSPACE aircraft (such as plug-and-play modular payloads or dedicated pilot camera) and incorporates the management of all the flight parameters and the subsystems’ health status through GCS.

DISCOVERY EXP in detail

The EXP model is scheduled to launch in the beginning of 2019 and this will mark the start of a new era for lightweight unmanned aerial vehicles.
Originated from the successful DISCOVERY TRN platform, they maintain the same main technological solutions, plus improved performances thanks to more efficient propulsion systems and a better computing and information-processing power.
The EXP series aircraft will be the first to integrate Artificial Intelligence algorithms able to make their work autonomous, without the need for a remote pilot and by guaranteeing a reliability level compliant with the European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) standards.
The EXP series aircraft will be used by European and US rescue corps to lessen the rescue time and upturn their effectiveness. Thanks to their perfect integration in the rescue vehicles, the EXP aircraft will be readily employed in any kind of emergency.
Performance improvements and the introduction of Artificial Intelligence flight algorithms, will make DISCOVERY EXP the reference aircraft for industrial uses and for surveillance purposes.
Designed to become the reference aircraft in multi-role applications, DISCOVERY EXP is one of the pioneer UAVs used for high-tech surveillance purposes. Increased efficiency and reliability compared to the original DISCOVERY TRN aircraft make DISCOVERY EXP adaptable to extreme conditions, where a fast and assured intervention capacity is required.
First in the world to be integrated in in the rescue vehicles, the autonomous DISCOVERY EXP UAVs will work with the search and rescue teams of three continents.
Thanks to the rigid project constraints used to make DISCOVERY EXP adequate for strategic and emergency purposes it is a perfect ally even for augmented industry, security and plant monitoring applications.

HIGH-EFFICIENCY Li-ion GENERATORS

The RPS AEROSPACE main power generators guarantee the maximal efficiency and capacity under high-stress conditions. Thanks to the chemical technology of the cells the flight duration is 30% over the current standard set.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The EXP series aircraft are equipped with the state-of-the-art of Artificial Intelligence applied to the vision. The autopilot enables it to operate without any remote pilot.

MAGESIUM MONOLITHIC FRAME STRUCTURE

The monolithic frame structure is realized with high-performing additive processes to guarantee light and efficient geometries that allow a 5% increase in UAVs’ autonomous flight.

MODULAR SENSORS SUITE

Thanks to the RPSconnect interfaces, all sensors are interchangeable in a single motion. Once installed on board, they are readily operational and are managed through the dedicated ground control station (GCS).

UPSIDE-DOWN PROPELLERS

The positioning of the propellers in an upside-down configuration permits to maximise the efficiency of the propulsive group, eliminating aerodynamic interference phenomena caused by air flows with the UAV structure.

GUARD MODE

Through the infrared (IR) video camera it is possible to make a reconnaissance flight without any payload significantly increasing the UAVs’ autonomy. The camera images are always visible both from the cockpit ground control station, and the ground control station for equipment management.
